MAR40224 – Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal)
This qualification provides the advanced skills and knowledge required to operate, monitor, and manage marine engines and vessel engineering systems on near coastal vessels. It prepares learners to take responsibility for engine room operations, electrical and mechanical systems, vessel stability, fuel management, maintenance activities, and emergency response, while ensuring compliance with maritime safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Graduates of this qualification are trained to work with a high level of autonomy, supervise and support others in the engine room, respond effectively to emergencies, and maintain vessel operations in accordance with AMSA requirements, Marine Orders, workplace procedures, and industry best practice.
This qualification is aligned with the requirements for AMSA certification as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal, when combined with qualifying sea service, medical fitness, and successful completion of the AMSA final assessment.
